Hello folks,

I should start off by telling you that I am not a coin collector. However, I did find a Canadian nickle that peeked my interest yesterday.
It has a mint date of 1997. The thickness is .078 inches or 1.981mm.

The coin has an unusual dull finish, it almost looks like aluminium.

I don't have a scale that's fine enough to give an accurate weight.

The pictures show a "normal" 1993 coin on the left and the "unusual" 1997 coin on the right.

I should also mention that the edge is almost sharp and not rounded.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.
