I've never come across a weak min mark like this before...polishing lines have almost remover the D completely, but, not all the way...tilt the coin one way, it's there, albeit, poorly...tilt it more..poof--Gone!
I wonder if Anacs would slab this as a "Weak Min Mark", or, "Over-Polished Die?

Very interesting MM. You have good eyes for spotting it. It would never be worth it to send it in for grading though, since it is only worth a dime.

Is there a way to tell if it was from an over polished die or a Grease Filled Die?

Definitly from polishing the die, you can see the polish lines in the D area, running off neck, probably was a repair work area to remove clash damage...while we've all seen polished out letters, pieces of eyes, , nose, etc., this is the first coin where the usually high D took the brunt of the worker's tooling job, and was erased almost 85%..conversation piece type coin.

Looks a lot like the problem they had back in 1922 with the cents. Too bad there were Philly minted 1970 dimes, or you'd have a very valuable coin - to some people.

Then again, I would never pay over 1922D money for ANY 1922 cent.
