I only collect small cents and I personally would prefer a BU red coin for my collection, but if I am going to have a RB coin in the collection it will be a toned one if I can help it. When I replace it with a RD it goes straight into my toned collection.

I am not sure if you can ever truly stop the natural toning of a coin. It is more likely that slabs and other air tights just slow down the process. So...all those RD's will be RB and the BN eventually. Enjoy every state your copper coins go through. A BN with a pinwheel luster is AWSOME! To see.
