I was wondering what venues to sell errors is the prefered method for Canadian errors . I have tried over the years many different methods but they all have their flaws . ebay use to be good but their fees and conditions just went out of hand . I don't like being forced to accept payment by paypal , so I can't sell on there anymore . I tried a while back with C+P with mixed results . They went and group a bunch together which surprised me and they didn't sell for no where near where they would have individually . They badly misdescribed a couple of lots also . Overall some lots sold for more than expected but the sloppy work on their end , probably cost me money . There is no reputable auction house with a decent knowledge of errors in Canada . I haven't tried anyone like heritage but was thinking of doing so but the whole border deal in shipping coins is a problem .

The moment I will have to sell my errors is approaching really fast. My strategy is: "international level" errors (PCGS certified major stuff) - Heritage; big stuff but not at international level: Mr. Bell (the new Toronto show); for all the rest I will get a table at a major show.
But keep in mind one thing I keep saying to all: in the current market, prices of errors are 30% of similar murrican errors. If you want to sell, price accordingly.

As an error chaser, I find that Lower Canada Auctions has the most accurate descriptions which lead to best return for the seller. C&P are the worst, Heritage would be a poor choice for Canadian errors. IMO

The error market is strong at the Lower Canada auctions (Quebec), but the issue is that collectors tend to be very cheap there - they would rather hunt and find an error, than pay top dollar for one. My choice would be Geoffrey & Brian Bell, as auctioneers. They take fantastic photographs and their reputation is growing.

I have sold off many Canadian errors over the last few years. The most satisfying sales were done directly with other error collector friends. ebay sales were usually not the greatest. People may not recognize you & everyone wants to low-ball the price. Then add on all the fees. I've sold errors to a local dealer. I got back more than I had paid originally. This dealer tends to have insanely high prices (in my mind) for his errors for sale, though sometimes he has a good deal. Of course, with error coin sales there is sometimes no rhyme or reason to the pricing. C&P Auctions were surprisingly successful. I had noticed they were open to auctioning errors & there past auctions brought in strong prices. The auction lots went okay when I gave thorough descriptions & sold CCCS certified errors.

Well, this thread attracted 2 of the top error collectors and one of the top numismatists in the country (plus me, neither one nor the other, since I only collect twoonies, something that looks like not to be a coin). You cannot get better advice!
1. price accordingly 2. describe accordingly 3. somehow approach error collectors 4. put for sale on reputable auctions.
Good luck!

...and two of the respondents are potential buyers of the 50c errors and nickel dollar errors you posted in other threads, should you ever decide to part with them. As scissel noted, the best sales are to other error collectors.

Hey - I'm not a newbie LOL . I have been slowly paring down my collection . I'm thinking of selling some of my multiples and others that don't quite fit my entire collection . I have probably had dealings with the posters on this thread , probably second hand . I know what certain errors go for in Canada . It is just that there is no real good venue for selling anymore . I don't think this forum allows sales till you get a lot of posts . I don't have a small collection . You name the error type and I probably have an example in multiple denominations . I was just trying to get people thoughts and maybe an avenue I missed .
