Hi I'd like to show you and ask for your help in correct ID this little coin.
I'm not sure 100% but at 99% yes...I think it's an AE 4 of emperor Zeno(474-491),on the obeverse we can see clearly the two letters ON at hour 1 and 2 in fact the legenda must be DN ZENON PE VG or AVG.
On the reverse we see victory with wings and something in hand,we can also read an S letter below.
the coin weights 0.66 g.
I can't find it on RIC and so maybe it can be a barbarian imitative or something like ostrogoth in name of zeno.
However I like the portrait that's very readable ,I don't know how rare are these sort of coin.
Opinions are welcome.

It's difficult to say, but I don't believe it's Zeno. There isn't enough of the reverse to verify if it's one that he used, also noting is listed with an S in the right field.

on wildwinds there's this coin calssified as AE3 it's the most similar coin I've found...look the S on the reverse, and the legenda ZENON....in my coin you can see ON nearly in the same place....

You have the coin in hand so you can see more detail that what the picture shows, so I guess it's possible. Maybe others with better eyesight than I can tell.

Could be Leo as well, as in DN LEONS PF AVG. That's if he issued coins with this reverse type. Either way a pretty nice example of a 5th century AE4 (I am a sucker for these little coins of the really late Roman emperors )

Too bad a lot of those 5th century coins are difficult to attribute. I wonder how some attribute these coins and I put money on it that they just guess.

ok thanks,so it can even be LEO....however surely a late 5th century coin.Yes usually they are very difficult to ID even because the legenda is always incomplete or totally out of the plane of the coin, busts are all the same for these late emperors.
ValiantKnight I've seen you've a lot of these interesting coins.
thanks even to Gil-galad.
