Hi all,
I have found two JFK halves from a bunch I picked up at the bank today that have me semi baffled. The first is a 1974. When I was looking for a DDO, I noticed that where the mint mark should be, If indeed it was supposed to be there, there is a strange mark. Like the die was grease filled? Help please.
Thanks
Oh, and I'm new as of tonight. Having trouble getting help on the other forum.

FYI - half dollars from that year that were made at the Philadelphia mint, didn't have a mint mark. Might be grease spot or other foreign matter on the die at time of the strike

That is a 1974-D. M.M. position is where it should be.
Either die wear or debris or it took a nice hit or two.

Might it be a 74-S impaired proof? The mint mark looks like an S that has been hit. Does the coin have a proof-like appearance?
