Hello all friends, this one dollar coin of Hong Kong, a previous British colony, were used in my childhood for many years but I still not know what the stuff is on the reverse side of the coin. What is the meaning of this 'statue"? Who can tell me what it is?

Some info here on Wiki for you...

I would hazard a guess that the Lion is holding an Orb (part of the Crown Jewels).

There are several orbs that all have different meanings.
Hope that helps.
Mike.

It is the crest of the old British-era Coat of Arms of Hong Kong. The ball the lion is holding is a pearl, representing Hong Kong as "the pearl of the Orient". The twisted line the lion is sitting on is a torse, a common feature on the crests of coats of arms.

When I grow up, I want to know about 1/2 as much as SAP. Any more than that and I think my head would explode.
