Does anyone have an aluminum or nickel coin in an acrylic paper weight?

I am looking at buying a medal that has been embedded in a plastic block, but I can't determine its composition. I think it might be silver, but have my doubts.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have one - to me it seems almost sacrilege to spoil a coin in that way.

However, they're very common here, French francs, and 20 centimes, as well as lots of British and American coins and medallions (Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee and the occasional 'war medal') all embedded in plastic blocks. With the exception of the war medal which would be silver if genuine and coins purporting to be gold sovereigns or gold half-sovereigns, I think all the embedded coins I have seen were genuine.

They're very common at car boot sales in Britain and in fleamarkets in Germany (though, in Germany, never with German coins).

Just to say that French francs are nickel, and the 20 centimes are aluminum-brass.

I found a medal embedded in a plastic block, but couldn't tell the composition. After close examination, I determined that it was aluminum due to coloring, corrosion, and more than anything the number of nicks that it suffered even when in MS condition right before being embedded by the manufacture.

Thanks for the input guys!
