I'm looking for a grade on this 1938 D that I'm thinking about purchasing. I want to make sure the price is right. Thanks in advance!

Good strike, no major hits, clean fields,
gotta go MS65
As always high grade coins are tough to grade without great pictures
or in hand and I'm not sure a range of 63-66 is going to help:)

I am thinking it's a MS-65 with a shot at a 66. Nice coin!

Obverse almost flawless, reverse only a couple marks on Buffalo's belly, shoulder and left front left clean, blazing original mint bloom. Great coin, MS-66.

I was amazed by the beauty, too. I checked the seller's other auctions, and he used the same pictures on another listing, so I passed.

Thanks for the responses, guys!

He should have noted in the listing it was a stock photo and not the actual coin. Guess the one you would have won would have looked far different.

get a slabbed one instead. Sometimes pics can really make a coin look better than it really is

I'd say MS-66 on this one. That last year coin had some wonderful strikes and 66 is very common. I've even had a 67 and it wasn't that tough to come up with. Yours is a beaut!

Coin pictured is exceptionally high grade probably MS-67.

Shame to hear it is just a stock photo. Good lesson for buyers - always read the description to make sure the coin shipped will be the coin pictured !
