I am not a massive fan of the design of US notes it has to be said... because they are very samey... not so much variety... but there are a couple of designs I like...

The 1899 black eagle note... I am looking for one that wont cost me too much $150ish would be OK... but I want something good to the eye crisp no holes etc I found one that looked reasonable on ebay for not too much money and thought I had bough but in my over-enthusiasm I didnt realise he wont ship to UK... I offered him extra for that but I havent had any reply. (is there any particular reason why so many wont ship abroad?)

The second is the note in my avatar...could anyone tell me about it please and what I would expect to pay for an example, how old etc

The note in your avatar is a 1901 $10 Legal tender "Bison" note- a very beautiful yet pricey note. For a note that's very to extremely fine you are looking at 900-1800 USD.

Also many may not ship to the UK because it is pricey and requires more effort.

One more thing- my avatar is actually the obverse of the Bison note in your avatar.

DavidUK (you are not set up to receive PM's), I am about to put my 1899 Black Eagle Silver Certificate (and some others) up on ebay. Is this about what you were looking for;

Keep plugging away on your postings and you would be able to buy/sell/trade on the CCF (You must have at least 250 posts and have been a member for at least 90 days to start a listing. You must have at least 50 posts and have been a member for at least 14 days to bid on or pocket an item.)

Plus it is quite risky to ship overseas (out of the US). Sending registered mail is the best way, but quite pricey. Maybe an extra $20 or more.

And the USPS site says banknotes and coins can't be mailed to the UK:

Very strange.

It is about what I am looking for, if the one I have on its way to me turns out to be a dog then I would be interested.

Yes I will keep plugging away (seems a tad harsh that new members have to post so many times before they can buy but your site your rules I guess)

I would not think to declare the contents as "Money" or "Currency"... what you have there could be trithfully described as paper or a document :P In truth though I think that although the official line is you cant send currency I know that plenty of it does travel in the mail. Also in the small print is "Monetary instruments" which surely means cheques/bonds/stocks...but for years a standard line has been "the cheque is in the post"
