Does anyone know when Perth is putting out the Shark coin? I heard it will have actual holes in the coin where the teeth marks are.

Not 100% sure who's making them. The above topic is in the Canadian forum, but one poster said to contact the NZ Mint, but there is no NZ Mint as far as I know.

See my next post.

I just googled NZ Mint:
http://www.nzmint.com/coins/shop-on...ver-coin-set

It does exist! Just shows how much I know about NZ!

Now that you've helped me out with the correct mint I was able to find out a tad more. Here is a link I found on another forum. http://www.ubercoins.com/store/prod...0&featured=Y

Seems it's not out yet and just in presale. Limited to 5000 Mintage & comes in encased in water with actual holes in the coin. (No idea how they do that)

ebay prices have been as high as 180 shipped just a day ago.

This is why I NEVER buy new release coins.
I like to sit back and wait a few years and get them close to melt.
With the low silver price at the moment I have been able to pick up some great $5,$10 and $1 1 oz commemorative coins at close to melt.
Most of these were expensive when released and have now come down to a realistic price mostly due to the low silver price at the moment.

The "New Zealand Mint" is not an official government mint; as far as I'm aware, it's never actually made legal tender coins in the name of New Zealand itself, only NZ dependencies like Niue; the only object appearing under "New Zealand" in their country-by-country listing is the "silver fern" bullion round, which is not a legal tender coin.

A high speed drill, I suspect. But I find it curious that, although the description is of holes "piercing through the coin", the picture of the reverse does not show any holes. Maybe it's just a stock reverse photo?

The above topic is in the Canadian forum...

Since it's about a coin "from" Niue, I think I'll move both it and this thread to World Coins forum later tonight.

Yeah I got offered 1 for $100, which is under the estimated release price of $118.
Still is a lot to spend.
I would like to see it a price of $80 to make it a good buy.
The mints just make things way to pricy for the actual market value.
