Hi.

Please can anybody help to identify the following.

I think the first 2 are 4 falus but I am confused by the dates 1?84 and 1850 ? The diameter are 28mm and weight 10g.

I have no idea about the rectangular coin. 20x15mm and 9g.

Thanks

Hi.

Thanks mass, I guessed they were falus but I was confused by the dates. 1?84 and 1850. I would have expected 1284 and 12?.

If you go to the very last reply on this post:

https://goccf.com/t/122602

you will see the reason for these coins being dated in the European manner.

Thanks alganbagerap, understand why Western Numerals but do not understand why dated 1850 instead of 1266. Is it an error or specifically for western use ?

The answer is in Krause: "Underweight coins, with mint names of Fes or Marrakesh, or with illegible inscriptions and dates are contemporary forgeries, often with smaller diameters".
In your case the size is right (27-29 mm), they are underweight but not too much (should be 11.5 g).
On the first coin, mint name Fes is almost right, this coin could be real.
On the second coin, mint name Marrakesh seems very strange to me, and the date is obviously wrong: I suspect this could be a contemporary fake.

Thanks Chris - I see what you mean the "temple" picture does look similar to the 1 Paisa copper coin.

I am not 100% sure, but I don't think it is a temple; I always thought is was a Katara (Dagger).
