Hey, all. Now that I'm getting back into this hobby, I figure I should find some way to store my coins other than throwing them in a mason jar. I've decided to buy 2x2 holders and found the following auction on ebay. After a brief Google search, this seems like a pretty good deal (~7 cents each, shipped). What say ye? Is there a better/cheaper place to purchase these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/11089138307....m1438.l2649Thanks! *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Not a good price. If you go to almost any coin store, you would find them for that or cheaper. Not sure about some of the on line dealers but try Wizard Coin Supply too. If you could find a coin show in your area, you should find those for about half that price. I get mine at coin shows for about $0.03 each. Sometimes a little more and sometimes a little less pending availability.

I usually buy from Wizard Coin Supply when I need a bunch of stuff. It is $10 to ship for anything over $50 the last time I checked. If you just need a pack or two, try going to Hobby Lobby. I was just there a couple of weeks ago and the had them for around $4 for a pack of 100. You could probably get a little better deal at coin shows, but coin shows aren't going on every day of the week in my area. Try also going to local coin shops if you have them in your area.

I am pretty new to coin collecting so should I buy a pack of 100 2x2 holders for a lot of coins I just won on ebay? Are the 2x2's generally big enough for most cons? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I am just very new to this.

There is a guy at the coins shows that I frequent who sells pack of 100 for about $3. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I am just very new to this. There are no dumb questions. We all started in the same position. The cardboard 2X2's come in varied sizes fitting coins from the cent to the silver dollar. If the lot that you just won contains coins of varied sizes you may need to purchase multiple sizes. Another option would be mylar flips which have two pockets, one for the coin and the other for a paper insert. They can hold coins of multiple sizes.

The least expensive 2x2's are not always the best. Frequently they have cardboard dust on the inside from the manufacturing process. This needs to be removed with a nonlinting wipe or compressed air before putting a coin in them. I buy my 2x2's from my local coin shop. The cardboard that they are made of is a light grey instead of standard brown and there is very little dust to worry about. I forget what the price is, but I don't recall it being unreasonable.

My B&M guy charges $1 for 25 which works out to $0.04 cents a piece of $4 for 100.

Quote: I wish I could get them that cheap in australia. Simple solution. Move to the USA, buy all of the ones you could possibly ever use, move back home. OR keep searching for someone one this forum that plans on going there and have them bring you some. OR buy all the material, make your own and sell to those there that can not find them as cheap.
