Going through my collection and finding all sorts of overdates I didn't know I had. I think I found an 1824 N-5!

It looks like it but the date is not clear in the picture.

KK, is it still considered an overdate even if the overdate is not visible? This is a rare one, correct?

Thanks. I've been going through all my LCs. Found a few scarce, but this is the first rare one. These matron heads are a lot easier to do than the braided hair. I think the difference on some of those are thinks like the shape of the smile. Spent an hour trying to figure out whether I had a medium date 46 and I'm still not sure. Think I have two small and two tall.

The lump on the back of the 4 doesn't seem to be showing but that is definitely the reverse of N-5, and N-5 was the only use of that reverse that year.

Is there a possibility that this piece has a previously unknown obverse type for the N-5 reverse? Just asking, recently there have been other significant varieties found that have somehow eluded the variety specialists over the years. Is the N-5 variety valuable enough to warranty submitting it for attribution and authentication? If so, then the cost of having it authenticated would be well worth having it done.

I don't slab my coins because I like them in an album. However, this isn't my only 1824, so I'd consider submitting it. If this is an N-5, any guess as to what it's worth?
