My guess is it will not sell. People that collect modern coins like these love to put their own sets together, it is the thrill of the hunt.
Selling all at once is trying to take the easy way out, but I think this guy will have to break the sets up to sell everything. Most collectors will not drop over $5k for modern coin sets with no precious metals in them.

Maybe if there's a 2000 $1 mule, 66' wavy 20c, etc I'd bid. Agree with the above. It takes all the fun out of collecting unless you are strictly an investor of which you'd be better off buying some Westpac shares at 7.5% dividend yield.

For $5000 you'd think that he'd have the decency to offer free shipping.

Won't sell, when I was estimating how much I'd get if I sold all my mint sets 1966-2012 (including early colour wallet variations) the figure came out to be something around $1800-1900 bucks. Needless to say, I didn't end up choosing to sell, but if you wanted this set, then hey, buy all your mint sets, buy 8 dansco supreme albums at 60 each and you've replicated his $5000 sale for 2400! Bargain, lol.

I am sure it will be relisted (again). ebay must love those people that keep relisting items at excessive starting prices. We have the term "bidiots" for those who buy rubbish at high prices. Do we have a term for sellers who put excessive starting prices on and keep relisting after not getting a bid?Suggestions requested. I have stirred the pot by sending this message "Dear wewak11, Did you know that Australia Post regulations only allow maximum $200 of legal tender currency to be posted (and must be registered)? Don't shoot the messenger please." Awaiting further developments. Jeff

If you put a lot of efort into putting such a set together, it follows that if you after a top price, you should put a lot of effort into selling it, either as singles or as a collection.
I have a collection of about 4,500 pieces. When I get too old, and my kids need the money, I plan to take about 2 to 3 years to sell my collection.

I agree with you totally Sel, Why would you sell a collection that large in one hit. I takes years to accumulate a decent collection and a lot of enjoyment is had doing it. Why not have as much fun selling it and getting true value for it at the same time.

He's wasting time and money trying to sell the set intact.
