As a long time Morgan dollar collector(meaning it has taken me a very long time to put together a set), I am down to the last three. Of course one is the 1895 Proof which will never have the hole filled in the album. Out of curiosity does any one know if all the 880 proofs still exist, and are they accounted for. Could there still be a few in a forgotten box or drawer? Thank's for any information.

I don't think more than 10% of those 880 have been accounted for. Not a few - the overwhelming majority are unaccounted-for.

Yeah, the thought's been in the back of my head too.

I just looked at ebay a few minutes ago, and there are three 1895 proofs listed. Prices from 35K - 91K. Wow!
