Greetings all...

I am new to this forum and have been collecting for several years now. My question is recently I received coins from two business on EBAY---Though I am reluctant to post their company names here. I am wondering what bad experiences others have had. Both companies claimed their coins were BU---Needless to say after receiving them from PCGS they came back as non gradable due to cleaning. Both coins were Morgan's on was and S series the other CC. The disappointment is pale in comparison to the money that was spent.

Regards,

Doc Lopez,

USN Ret.

Sorry to hear of your ebay mishap. You have come to the right place if you are new to collecting. It is easy for rookies and veteran collectors alike to get burned on the Bay, but we as a group can help you learn and grow as a collector. I almost forgot!

aboard shipmate!

Welcome!

And believe me, others have had similar experiences and worse. Don't hesitate to contact the sellers, explain the situation and perhaps you could work out a refund. It can't hurt to try. At least that would cut your losses to the grading fees. You'd have more leverage if you haven't left positive feedback yet.

Also, there is a "discouraged seller" thread here. In your situation, I would not hesitate to post the seller names there (or here). I would consider it a service to fellow collectors. Your call on that one though.

In the future, you can post ebay links here for opinions before buying. Again, welcome!

I moved your welcome post to the 'Auction | ebay, eCrater, Heritage, Paypal, etc.' forum for the proper attention.

Yep, I (and alot of coin collectors have) got burned on buying raw coins before, that is another reason I try to buy TOP III TPG coins. Although every once in a while I do get caught up in a beautiful raw coin. Some of the sellers take some impressive images and then "doctor" them up to make them appear better than they really are. Always purchase from someone who has a return policy on ebay, which is now 14 days.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience and welcome.

Like others have said I only buy already graded coins on ebay for this exact reason. I prefer PCGS myself but PCGS NGC or ANACS are all reliable, even if you want to keep the coin raw for something I would buy it slabbed and break it out so you know what youre getting
