I have an MS65 wheat that was graded by a TPG back in the day when they would send back the coin in a standard flip and include just a photo. Is there a special process for getting it slabbed, or is it just considered a new submission?

Just a new submission basically. I would just send it in raw.

It would be a new submission. What was the TPG?

ANACS in 1983. It's a 65/65 1910 wheat. Think I'll send it in again because back then I don't think they used the red brown designation and this one would come up as red. Should I not send the old certificate?

If you're resending it to the same TPG send everything in from them unless you feel they undergraded it then send it raw. If its a cross over TPG though I'd send it raw

I'm not a slab collector so if it was mine, into an Album it would go. Good way to start a MS graded set.

I'd put it in an Airtite and call it good.

Keep your ANACS photo cert, it is quite collectible itself.

Post a picture....we can help! :)

I would send it in with everything and request back the photo certificate. As stated, that is worth something as well.

Resubmit, raw, but keep that photo cert as stated. You'll be glad you did.

It would be interesting to see what the certificate looks like.

Other than the name, there is no connection between the company that issued the photo certs in the 1980s and the company that now slabs coins. The photo certs date to a time when ANACS was owned and operated by the ANA.

What is the actual date on the certificate? They used at least two and my have used three different certificates in 1983. I'm always interested in trying to nail down the starting and ending dates for each type. ANACS 5 ended in Aug of 83 and ANACS 10 seems to have started in Sept. The question is when did ANACS 5 start? The earliest I have seen is July of 83, but the latest ANACS 4 I have seen is November of 82. So if your certificate dates before July I'd like to know the exact date and which type it is.
