Hi, I just opened an ebay group, along with Ceca Cegovia (from the Segovia mint) - related to reproduction and fake spanish coins. Anyone interested in the subject is welcome to check the group out and post his coins / experience. 4 main picture repository are opened : * Modern fakes marked as such (I have yet to post some there ...) * Modern fakes / frauds * Contemporary counterfeits * Genuine coins (for comparison) I reposted some material found here (with credit) - including two excellent posts from Swamperbob :) The group is here : https://www.facebook.com/groups/438021426231370/

Nice group. :-) I'd love to contribute, but my Spanish is horrid.

No worries - you can speak english as well - there are many americans there :) I actually don't speak spanish, I use google translation to write it (with some fixes I'm getting used to do) - and I'm starting to read it a bit.

That would be great indeed, we have yet to discuss about contemporary counterfeits :)
I'm glad to have starting this, no more than two days ago a friend of mine bought fake coins from a crook I had to deal with sometime ago ... I've been trying to help them to recognize fakes (it was some casts) - but the lesson didn't worked as expected yet :D (if you browse spanish forums ... you know what I mean)

Hello MathieuMa, I really want to join your discussion of contemporary counterfeits. But how can I log on the facebook link of your first message?

I think you have to go to the page, and there should be a button to request to join the group. Here is another link : https://www.facebook.com/groups/monedafalsa/BTW: this is only on spahish fake coins - we don't discuss about anything else :)

I joined the new Forum, planning to post pictures and specifications of some 19th century counterfeit crowns from mainland Spain.
Sadly, I don't know how to get around the new forum. Having trouble writing messages (with text formatting and with Previewing), and even problems uploading pictures to the Photo section.
For now, I guess I'll just watch the posts of others. <sigh>
