I collect or I guess "stack" 90% silver coins, mostly quarters. I try to buy nicer quarters, not so much dates, just nice quarters that havesilver value.

What do you guys think about buying bank rolled coins? I have a chance to pick up 20 rolls of quarters, I think all from 1964. So, nothing rare. Do I keep them in the original rolls? Or do I buy them and open them? If I keep in the original rolls my concern is I'll worry there is clad in there. I mean, couldn't these be easily faked? But if I open them, I'd think there's some value in having bank rolled coins?

I found this topic:

https://goccf.com/t/114806&whichpage=5

but it seems he was selling "possible" rare coins, where I'm simply buy pretty common silver coins.

Any help is appreciated.

Open them. There could be some gems in there, but if all it is is junk silver so to speak having them rolled adds nothing to melt value. Plus like you mentioned you could weed out the clads

Open it up! I couldn't resist, but you could pull out the high MS and maybe cherrypick a DDO or something.

Because they'll be nicer coins. Around here, junk sells at spot. And common, but nice silver coins sell at spot.

And I didn't say I was buying at a premium. I asked if they were worth more in the original wrappers untouched or am I risking NOT opening them not having a full roll of silver.

I would have to agree with those that say open them. I doubt keeping them wrapped would add any significant value to them.

Plus if you know they are all dated 1964, then someone opened them in the past to check the dates, so there is no value in keeping them wrapped, since they aren't OBW.

So I say, open them up and look at them. Plus the old paper wrappers have sulfur in them and will tarnish the silver.
