I am trying to learn how to spot questionable coins so when I see something that is suspect I come to the experts. Besides looking way to good, this one looks soft and lacking detail which I assume is a good indication of polishing. Let me know if I am right and what I might be missing. Thanks in advance. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1936-LONG-I...t_500wt_1120

Doesn't look like mint luster to me. Might be the picture.

hard to tell for sure from the photo. My guess would be that it has been cleaned, just doesn't look like it has original mint cartwheel luster.

Looks ok to me. I don't see any obvious hairlines. Looks like it still has original luster as the seller indicates in his description. If it has been dipped it was very light.

It does look fishy to me. The color just doesn't seem natural.
And is that pitting I see on the reverse sails?

Looks way to good to be true, especially for a raw coin of that age.

IMHO ... this Long Island half dollar does not have original surfaces ... the bright surfaces coupled with lack of obvious luster tell me to stay away.
I note the auction has ended so hope no CCF family were taken.

Thanks for all the replies. After looking at this auction and several other listings by this seller I didn't feel comfortable with these. I passed.
