Sometimes junk silver is more than just scrap!

Stopped by my "gold guy" this afternoon and he let me go through his junk 90% bag.

Picked up 26 Mercury dimes and an 1893 Columbia Expo Half... ALL AT MELT VALUE!

Filled 1/3 of my Merc folder. Had to clean tape/glue off of the front of the Columbia Half with Acetone but I think it came out ok.

Pictured are 2 of the best coins of the entire lot.

Those are nice coins, indeed.
The first time I saw Columbian halves in the tubs at my favorite 'junk' silver source, I thought the sorter had made a serious mistake.
Then as I continued to frequent this source, I began seeing so many of those handsome coins coming in that I had to stop buying them or I would have had no funds for anything else.
It still seems odd but it's market reality.

I've found Columbian halves at flea markets in the junk silver bins, but not in that condition. Very nice! I've also found BU 1982 Washington halves at melt.

I am confused. What is a 1982 Washington half? What do you mean by you paid melt? Do you mean you bought it at face value?
