Melt on 5 ozs plus maybe a $5 per coin premium. Maybe $7 per coin if they really appeal to you.

B,
I haven't priced gold Brits for almost two years so my math might be on the low side... Or not, IDK. I'd say the set wouldn't go at auction for less than $275-325. I remember seeing individual one's selling for $70-80+ so that's kinda how I arrived at the figure.
Po would be a good one to ask but I haven't seen any of his posts around here for a while. If you could get them under the low end figure I quoted, that would be a tremendous deal, IMO.

B,
Just thought of something else. I couldn't tell from the pics and I don't know if GB made them in proof form, but if these are proofs, and I assumed they weren't, my figures are WAY low.

the highest I would go is 175$ (leaving an 8$ premium per coin) IF I was really into the set, I don't like to purchase premium coins due to the lack of resell rate, I find you'll lose money, if you hold it til silver is about 35$ an ounce anything more is gravy.

The Britts try and sell those at 2 to 3 hundred each sometimes, they command serious premium.... The Britannia series with 24k gild is no joke when you are talking premium, and if you could indeed get them for 5 to 7 over spot jump on it, as that would only be 34 each, and that is probably not gonna happen, minus you having someone in need of some fast cash.... I would not be happy selling that set tomorrow at 50 each or 250 total, would be terrible.... Perhaps a realistic price for one would be high 50's or low 60's, bout the ASE proof range.... I have not searched these in a while, but anytime I ever did, we are talking 75 each or higher seems like....

I would go 200, and with long term in mind 250 would be safe. Still be real surprised if you LOSE money on this set one day at 250 bucks....
Generally a good rule of thumb is ask yourself what it would bring max on buy it now, so like T said 275 maybe 300 in time....
If I am confident I can get 300 not long later, I have no issue going 200 (my personal max with silver where it is and how it has been acting lately) if I were to bid on this set, but that is just me cause I happen to love these gilded Britannia s, always have....

@travin: Thanks for the vote of confidence @bekiz: Even with silver at under $30, you would be able to sell any year of the gold plated silver britannia coins for at least $60 each. I've sold more than few of the BU britannias for at least 30% premium over spot on ebay with ease. Having these gold plated ones in a set with papers (even if not Royal Mint issued but issued by the secondary plating mint - a German one) will only add value. If you are looking to buy and hold, $300 or less for the set is a steal and anything under $350 still acceptable in my opinion. If looking to flip sooner rather than later, you'd have to get it at $300-310 to be able to about break even selling for ~$350 on ebay. And, I feel you wouldn't have to wait too long for a buyer if set the price at $350. Good luck.

Is this being bought as an investment? If so I wouldn't go more that 175 for it (sure silver will sky rocket but if you go much higher than you need to wait for silver to rise before you profit and the more you pay is more you would have had.) of you're purchasing these for your actual coin collection needs. Ask yourself how much would satisfy you.

Quote: Is this being bought as an investment? If so I wouldn't go more that 175 for it I'm not sure how familiar you are with the market for coins like these, and no offense, but there's a reason why I don't get on the racehorse forum and ask why people spend millions for a thoroughbred when anyone can get a really fast mustang that just needs a little remedial saddle training practically for free from a rancher down the road from me. These coins aren't generic Maples or ASEs and no one treats (or sells) them as such. For one, GB didn't make millions of them. Rarity almost always comes at a premium in the silver coin market, which actually goes w/out saying, IMO. Bottom line: These do not sell anywhere NEAR spot prices... Ever.

I agree T as many would gladly pay 50 each with silver in the high 20's, just to get all five at one time in one great case and set, something that can't be underestimated either.....
Go and try and find all 5 of those for 50 total separately verses a set. And if one could I would be real surprised....

Got to agree with Traevin here. I have some of the regular Britannia's and ONE of the 2006 special gilt ones, and these almost never, ever sell even near spot. Picking this set up for three hundred would be a great deal. As stated, these are not generic silver bullion coins, nor are they flag of convenience NCLT with no numismatic value.

If you can get this set for US$300, I'd say, snap it up. A set like this would've cost £295 at issue price. Just take a look at the 25th Annie silver set of nine 1/2 oz. Britannia rounds, £495 for 4 1/2oz. of Ag!! This will have buyers at US$500 easy. Britannias are premium coins, particularly the proofs gilded with AU. Expensive puppies. Good luck on snagging it at your price.
