So I bought the last coin I needed for my 20th Century type set but it came with a hitch. I had to buy a 1929 quarter with it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...83819165&ru=http://search.ebay.com:80/search/search.dll%3Ffrom=R40&satitle=290083819165&fvi=1

In a few days I'll have this coin in hand and being that I already have a 1929 quarter I have a few options
1.) Save it for one of my kids
2.) Sell it
3.) We could play the grading game with it and then I can submit to ANACS

Any opinions? (and no you can't be one of my kids)

Ken,
I believe the 1929 is XF at best.Which would put it in the $35 value range.I don't think I would spend the money to have it graded. The 1917 is a Beauty.

The 1917 is a beauty and may very well be AU. I'd like to see larger pics of it when you get it. If it is AU, it's like getting the 1929 for free anyway. The 1929 looks to me to be VF20-30. Again, it's hard to tell from the pics because I like larger pics to grade from.

Overall, I would not suggest sending it to be graded, but it would be a great coin to get your kids interested in collecting.

Thanks everyone...I'll save it for one of the kids. I bought this from Ernie who I know this is a shock but occasionally over grades so I thought it might have been fun playing the grading game. Personally I'd put it at VF30 (the reverse really brings it down) so I think we're all in the ball park.

Susan, as soon as I get the 1917 I'll take a photo (or two) and put it in the coin grading practice forum as that does look like a nice coin from the initial pics.

Thanks Again
