Well, apparently he has a hoard of 1885 CCs!
I have yet to look, but a hunch says they all look suspect.

I've chosen to report them, based mostly on the abnormal date position. The images are too poor to be conclusive.

Wow, this guy has 4, 1885 CCs listed. Metal looks very suspect. Definitely fakes.

They look porous to me.
Porous and whizzed.
The rims look horrible too.

I can't tell on the others.
They all look polished, maybe not the 99-O...
Maybe he is polishing the coins?
Maybe he sourced them all from the same place?

It seems ebay agrees with us regarding the CC's.

Buh-bye.

So when ebay pulls these, do they just remove the item, or also put some kind of restriction on the seller? Real scammers need to be stopped. On the other hand, I wouldn't want someone who inadvertently posted a bad coin to be penalized.

Generally they just remove listings rather than sellers, for the reason you mention. Stuff happens, and in many cases the listing removal is the seller's first hint that their offering was unacceptable. Of course, hijacked accounts are a different animal entirely.

Actually had that happen to me once. I was selling a Southwest frequent flier ticket that was near expiration. Apparently Southwest searches for these and reports them. ebay pulled the listing after it was closed and I got a fee refund. Right after, I got a message from the seller telling me they still wanted it!

One of the CCs was sold on BIN just before the auctions were pulled.
Now that it has been sold, we know the buyer. Are we sure enough that
the coin is fake that we should notify the buyer? What to do? If anything?
