I just watched 3 Peace dollars in decent shape go for under spot?! But yet Morgans in Good condition are still flying over $30. What's the deal with that?

I'm more of a Morgan guy myself but, I was thinking about investing in some Peace dollars up until this.

Buy the Peace dollars because of this!

You may not get the premium back if you need to sell the Morgans. You will always have the gains (fingers crossed) if you buy below spot...

I think Peace dollars are just beautiful. Morgans are nice, too.

Peaces were made starting in the 1920's. They're an easier series to collect. Morgans have that 19th century thing going for them, and can be stunningly gorgeous (and extraordinarily expensive) in higher grades with PL and DMPL fields.

And I completely agree with Amida. Pick up the silver cheap while you can. Even if you're not a doomsday believer, I think they're a great buy.
Rest in Peace

A coin with one or more surfaces that are reflective. The most reliable way to check is to hold the coin on its edge next to a page of printed matter (such as a book) where you have marked off the inches. You should have good light directed towards the coin. Look into the coin's mirrored surface and see how far down the scale you can clearly read the text. Here is a scale to determine.
Semi-Prooflike (SPL) - 1 to 2 inches, devices must be frosted
Prooflike (PL) - 2 to 4 inches of reflectivity
Deep Mirror Prooflike (DMPL) - More than 4 inches
Ultra Prooflike (UPL) - At least 8 inches

For some reason Peace dollars have always been under valued and under appreciated, with the exception of the 21 and 28 of course. Snag every one you can under melt. Period.
Rest in Peace
