Just got this one filed in its place. The first non-Byzantine facing portrait in my collection. Not the prettiest specimen in the world but well worth each of the 99 pennies I paid for it. (Instagrammed for extra yum, cropped to remove excess yum)

Nice coin Nothus. Hard to find these with any decent detail. Here's the example I have in my collection (not trying to steal any thunder from your coin though ):

Minted in Nicomedia.

And golden_nickel, it's a Roman coin from the late era, around late 4th-early 5th century AD.

Lovely coin, for that era.
Arcadius reigned from 395 - 408 AD.

I think finding these coins in better shape is hard to do. I have the same style coin except it was struck at Cyzicus (SMKA mintmark). It's in about the same condition as your coin. Having said that, the facing bust coins are different and nice to have in your collection.

I've only been able to come across two of this type for my collection that have some nice detail. Others I'm seen are are usually more worn and less collectible. Nice find Nothus. VK and JW thos are nice coins also.

Nice coins. It's hard to find really nice ones for cheap, I was happy to snap this one up - worn or not. I always thought the facing coins were ugly until I saw a couple of pristine examples and understood how they were supposed to look. Now I like them alot.
