This is a real beauty I just received. In additional to the WOW toning on the obverse, it has a lot of other things going on. The reverse is almost wagonwheeled with a die break. The only area not involved is the "DOLLAR" portion. There is a strong die clash outside the eagle wing at around 3 o'clock.
On the obverse there is a die clash at Liberty's neck and also one at the bottom of her cap at around 3:30. There is a die crack beginning at the first star below "E" in E Pluribus that continues counter clockwise through the date. She's a grand old lady. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Paleoguy

I think VAM13 sounds about right based on the die chip on the lower portion of the first 8....smoking gun.

edit - I see you like that one so much that it stuck to your avatar.

Yep Dave. Got tired of having a bald head and decided I needed a bit more color.

Heck, I'd attributed it based on the die cracks from the original thread, before the date detail was posted here. That 8 is definitely a smoking gun. Even though there's notable clashing, though, I'm going with 13 as opposed to 13A, which is double-clashed and the cracks have progressed much farther.

I'm not sure where the line is that VAM13 crosses over to VAM13A. I call mine a VAM13A only because the die crack through the date is very pronounced.

It is VAM 13 but, 13A requires The UST clash to be certain and final.....
While I do believe that die cracks can hold sway over a determination,
One must recheck to assure that the letter transfers which allow the "A" designation , must be present...its a die progression thing...G

Thanks aladinslamp. I see now that mine is a VAM13A by the double clash mark under the eagle's left wing. The letter transfer is tough to see but I can vaguely make out the N if I catch the light just right.
