Just picked this 1888-P and found something interesting when I put it under the glass. I didn't know "we" were into lip piercing in the 1800's. Both upper and lower lips look like they have been pierced. Her chin also has a spike. There is also a neck clash and clash on the reverse next to eagle's left (its perspective) wing. Any help greatly appreciated on attributing this one. Paleoguy

This one's going to be a bear to attribute, even with the prominent clashing at the lips. You'll need to go over it minutely for doubling, especially the date, ear, stars and reverse lettering.

SD,

The lower lobe of the ear is doubled, there is also a die clash from the top of the right wing through the "n". I couldn't see any doubling in the date or stars. Hope this helps a bit.. PG

You're a talented man, paleoguy. There are very few "smoking gun" 1888's, and you managed to find one of them.

I'd like to thank my Momma and the Academy.....

I'm a rookie at this stuff SD. It keeps the mind working and the wheels turning though. There are a gazillion things to learn and study. I haven't even begun to scratch the surface.
Rest in Peace

Another nice pick from the wild! I really like the varieties like this one that are let's say "busy". Congrats
