I bought my first gold coin on Monday -- and then I gave it to my husband for his birthday. Please share your opinions because I really don't know enough to make this kind of a purchase.

Yep, I bought a slobbed one. See above.

I checked online before I left the house. Gold was $1591. I walked five blocks, bought the coin, walked home and lost $3 along the way!

I paid $1690. I feel okay about it and my husband was really happy with his gift. But I would like some feedback before I go do this again for our anniversary. Thanks.

Nice coin... I was just telling my wife that I'd sure like a St. Gaudens double eagle!

Thank you! I feel like I can relax about it a little.

Maybe I'll get my husband a St. Gaudens for our 31st anniversary next month.

Thank you all for your comments. I put myself on a 'coin hobby' budget a couple of years ago and I have hardly bought anything -- just letting the cash pile up so I could get something good.

SilverCoinBoi I have TWO sisters and one is single....

You should probably stick with the girl you have.

I am in the "think you did alright" group. I have always loved this design on this type of coin. I actually like the Reverse design allot better than the St. Gaudens design but that is just me. When I had both of those types in my type set album it was this design that most people really liked the looks of

Thanks Bryan.

I just took a tour of your 7070 and Wowie wow wow wow!

You broke a lot of slabs. I don't think I would have the nerve to do that. You have a really great collection and the photos are great too.
