I have been wondering if there is really much of a following for the medals that the mint puts out each year. Is there a secondary market for them at all?

I have a collection of the mint's 1&5/16 Presidential bronze medals through GWB. I started the set back in my youth, and refreshed it last year.

Generally, no. If the metal disc doesn't have a denomination on it, most collectors will ignore it, even if the design is beautiful. Most secondary market prices are usually far below issue price.

Hard to say, generally the 1 5/16" (34mm) and the silver dollar size (38mm) medals haven't held their value. They tend to tone if kept in the cellophane like copper pennies do, and can be had for a few dollars apiece. The quality really varies on the small duplicates, whereas the 3" vapor blasted medals are outstanding. Both the New Frontiers and the Nisei/442nd medals are great examples of exceptional medallic art and I'm looking forward to seeing the Monfort Point medals to see if I want one. Generally on ebay, the 3" medals of popular subjects sell for issue price or above that if exceptionally clean.
