BenM66 New Member United States 27 Posts	Posted 07/14/2012 11:12 pm Hi I have a 1908 Barber D quarter with a small split in it on the edge and what appears to be a Bullet indent from that same time period where the split is, does anyone know if this would Decrease it's value or add a curiosity value, I'm new to coins so any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you Report this Post to the Staff

I have only seen a few pictures of coins that were shot and they all looked more warped and damaged than the one you have. As far as value, I think it would probably be worth only melt unless something like this could be tied to some well known figure or account. An 1853 5 centimes which is believed to have been shot by Annie Oakley that I remember seeing on an episode of History Detectives and a 1860 double eagle that saved the life of George Dixon during the Battle of Shiloh are two that come to mind. I would think those two coins have more value now after being shot than before. Report this Post to the Staff
