I saw this on ebay and was going to bid but was not quite sure of the grade so I stayed away from it. What do you think it would grade and do the die clashes add much of a premium?

Thanks for checking it out, just trying to have a better understanding of grades.

Hope you didn't buy this one. It is a cleaned AU, definitely not GEM BU Red.

I can't believe this guy has 100% Pos feedback. I looked at many of his raw Gem BU Red coins and all look cleaned. The color is the same on all with no toning on any coin. Only the TPG coins he has are what they are advertised as.

You gotta love this seller's description,-- gem BU, rare key date. Gem BU implies MS 65 which this coin is most definitely not. Key rare date?-over 57 million minted. That was the highest IHC mintage to date. His description is so unbelievably inaccurate. I would stay away from this seller.

Looks AU. Photos are not representative of the coin. Avoid.

Most of his raw copper has the same orange, recolored look. I agree with the above posters. Steer clear.
Rest in Peace

All problems aside, I like the die clashes on this.

It's hard to determine how much luster was present before the dip or polishing.
Looking at the hair/ribbon boundary, I'd put it originally at EF45.

I know I wouldn't pay anywhere near $56.00 for it.
