I hear the Perth Mint is releasing the "AntiVenom" 1oz Silver coin to counteract all those bitten by the Funnel Web Spider Coin craze LOL

love the AntiVenom idea! (means more to an "american chopper" tragic like me...) but SHHHHHHH, don't give PM any more ideas... p.s. always had lots of these spiders living in our front yard as a kid... and have fished quite a few from swimming pools over the years... they are fairly common and in my experience fairly placid. don't get me wrong, you do not want to get a bite. in an adult, onset and severity of symptoms advances rapidly (between 20mins and 2 hours) and without antivenom death between 15mins to a couple of days depending on the bite and your age/size and medical treatment. in areas where they exist, like Sydney, funnel web antivenom is generally always given even if the type of spider is not positively identified.

It's from a set. They did a set for kids on bugs in 2010 and this is just 1 of them.

Here's an update on the redback coin I bought. I got this in yesterdays mail, The size is about that of a 20 cent coin and not the same as a normal dollar coin. I like it but I'm not sure where it fits in my collection.

I had an opportunity to bid on the Deadly and Dangerous spider that Perth put out in 2006, the first in the series. Even in 2008, it was going for $600. Unfortunately, I was outbid by a few dollars. The last one I saw went for around $1000 but I think that's maybe the upper limits of its value. Time will tell.

How is the spider printed onto the coin? It almost looks like a sticker with a mirrored background from the youtube pics I've seen. I like it though!
