The coin looks like it was dug. Very grainy looking. The details I would consider VF, possibly even EF if I had the coin in hand.

Odd that everyone feels this is a dug coin. I believe this is one of a couple of Half Cent dates that is very over-represented in collections (in very high grades, usually still with mint red) due to a large hoard. Any Half Cent of these dates with minimal wear is overwhelmingly likely to have come from that hoard. This one, though dark, has little wear; is that why everyone feels it came out of the ground?

I think the surfaces indicate it is a ground coin. Pitted and corroded...at least look like it in the pic.

Good looking coin, even with the ED on there, the detail is all still very crisp.

I know everyone has been waiting since 2012 to hear more about this coin!  I sent this in during ICG's $10 special. I am pleased that it made it up to XF-45 details.
