As most of you know, a lot of money was made on the 2006 W sets especially the gold set and also the platinum W. What about the 2007 issues? What do you think will be HOT?

You would think the platinum anniversary set will be an instant winner, but I am a little pessimistic about this product. The platinum series have extremely low mintages, but that doesn't push the price up(the exception would be the 2004 proofs that are supposed to have the lowest mintages, even though the mint shows the 2005 proofs have the lowest mintage, but that is another story for another topic). Plus there are less collectors out there who collect platinum eagles than ASE or AGE. Add that to the high price of platinum, and it equals a small circle of collectors, who could actually afford a platinum anniversary set. I have read that the mint is considering one of 4 options for the anniversary set. In every set, the 1/2 ounce eagle was chosen. The lowest priced option the mint is considering is approx. $1,800 and the highest price is around $2,600. Those prices are very high. Atleast with the ASE, a lot of people were able to afford the anniversary set, for $100. I am a huge fan of the platinum eagles, but I am still unsure about the 2007 anniversary set being a huge sucess. Maybe it is a little too early to tell.
