First off, I bought 10 NGC MS65 Washington Presidential dollars first day of issue for 41.10 total including shipping.

What's the difference between these and first strike coins?
Did I get a good deal?
What do you think my coin dealer would give for them? Could I possibly make a profit?

Thanks and have fun!

Theres no difference between those and first strike coins and theres no difference between first day of issue/first strike/early release coins and normal coins.

The mint when it mints the coins they all get mixed together and theres no way to tell which coins were minted first anymore. The labels are just something the TPGs did to charge more for.

That said at 4 dollars a piece for those you got a good deal.

And of course

I would assume that these coins came out of first day of issue covers that the mint sold. Possibly from cancelled rolls too? I think you payed just about the going rate for them, and I don't think much premium is given to the first day of issue, but I might be wrong.

I was wrong. I just looked these up after I read coinmaniac's post.

Coin its just kind of one of those things where if its the same price and you like the coin go for it, but dont pay any premiums for the first day/first strike/early release unless you personally like it a lot and are just doing it because you like it and no other reason

Not sure of the reason for slabbing these. Once it's removed from the mint issued cover, it's not really special anymore.

$4.00 is fair maket value IF you can find a buyer who is willing to pay $3.00 more than it's worth.

AND it is odd that those are only MS-65. You would think if someone is standing right there at the Mint, picking out the first and best coins made, they would be much higher in grade.
Just one more Numismatic term for us all to remember. First strike, first issue, first made, first day of issue, etc.
How come no one wants the Last Coin?
