I got this one on Monday. Noticed the die break while I was paying for it. I believe it is called a 'Whisker Jaw' or die break but some say Cud. Can you guys clarify for me? What ever it's called it wasn't bad for 15 dollars. Thanks again.

It would be an interior die break. A Cud is a specific type of die break that affects the face and shank of a die so it will always emanate from the edge of a coin.

Nice find and cheap in comparison to just the strict silver content.

Nice find! The coin appears to be an AU-50 to AU-53 and even with the muddled Obverse toning, it should fetch $40 to possibly $45 on a good day.

I just picked up a bunch of Morgan and Peace dollars from my supplier (a local Coin Dealer) to sell at the Flea Markets. To my surprise, I also found a 1923-P Peace dollar VAM-1A in the bunch that is at least an AU-53 and possibly AU-55. It also has the muddled toning both on te Obverse and Reverse. Sorry that there are no pics! It is packed away for the Flea Markets and too hard to dig out. I also found a possible new VAM for the 1923-P Peace dollars. Unlike the VAM-1F "Chin Bar", this one has what appears to be a Counter-Clashed letter on the bottom of Miss Liberty's chin slightly to the left of the neckline. It lines up with the beggining tail of the "N" in UNUM. I don't know if it is worth submitting for attribution or not as I just recently got back into collecting and selling coins after a nearly 5 year hiatus!

Good luck on VAM searching and I hope to see your next find soon!

Frank
