Since I have been here a few weeks now and have been lucky enough to benefit from the generosity of the members of our community I would like to now give something back. I recently bought a new Red Book and so I no longer need my other one. So this contest will be for my 2008 spiral bound Red Book. It is slightly used of course and is beginning to fall apart a bit but I think it is still a wonderful resource for our younger/newer collectors for beginning to learn the ins and outs of how to evaluate their coins. You must have at least 50 posts to participate and be either a young or new numismatic (going on the honor system here). If you have been collecting for a while but would like to participate and donate the prize to a newer member/collector that's fine too. Only one guess per person per forum day. I will take care of the postage to get the book to you but I am limiting this to either the US or Canada to help keep the cost down. If you live somewhere else and are willing to help with postage then you can participate too. I may throw in some extra consolation prizes depending on how many people wind up participating. Okay check the reply below this for the contest details! Edited by Williamsonj320 07/28/2012 6:11 pm

I started collecting coins with Kennedy halves. I still have a long way to go and I only have one 90% Silver Proof Kennedy. The first person that can figure out what year that Kennedy is will win. As a bonus anyone that can guess how much I spent on it (I bought it on March 18, 2012) will receive something else, probably some coins or something, whatever I can find laying around. This is my first contest/giveaway so bare with me if this doesn't go as smoothly as I hope it will. Good luck!

Can we play if we have been around here for a bit longer, and if we win, gift it to another newer member? I have one in mind!

You purchased a :
1992-S 90% silver proof because it was the first year to re-introduce 90% silver.
You paid: 14.50

1964 - the typical last circulated year of the Kennedy, and you paid 9.50

Great logic but not quite right you two.
Also let's go with one guess per person per forum day. That way you get more than one chance but can't just sit here and guess until you get it lol.
I figure since we don't have as many newer/young members it will make it easier for them to participate.

A 1964 D proof. $15.00 I'm definitely new to collecting, although doing very well so far (was left a collection when my father passed) but do not have 50 posts yet... Just joined yesterday, maybe 4 posts.. But thought I'd guess anyways.

I am not new to collecting but I am relatively new to collecting US coins (I specialized my collection to British coins and banknotes) so therefore I never owned a RedBook and theres lots I need to learn for US... If that counts I will say randomly you have a 1958 silver quarter you bought for $32. Good luck me!

David I will allow you to participate if you are willing to assist with shipping if you win. The contest is about a Kennedy half dollar though not a quarter
