I just found a man in my area selling 250 Indian heads none graded, just a bag) in god knows what condition, but from the pics they look ok, better than ok. I'm pretty sure he's probably pulled any key dates but hes only asking $225 or the lot, and I'm sure I could get him to go down a bit. This sounds like a pretty, well really good deal to me but I just thought I'd ask for other opinions? Should I jump on that? ?

If they all grade at least good and there are a number of cents in the 1880's then it's a good deal. Be sure to look at all of them individually, both sides, for any problems such as scratches, verdigris, et cetera. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Ed ANA LM-3175

i just looked through an elderly relative's collection of ~ 80 Indian cents. All were culls and coated in a lacquer or something else that should never touch coins. wouldn't have paid 25 cents each. hopefully yours turn out better.

If he would go down a little more, might be a great deal. Now as about $1 each and IF in decent shape, might come out OK. I'd want to sse at least some of them to make sure not all corroded. If in a bag for a long time, might be all full of almost anything and then be worthless.

Thanks for the input everyone! Ya, I think I'm gonna pass on this deal.. To risky, just my luck they'd all be horrible... And for the hour drive to get them I just can't risk them all being junk when I go through them. Found a better deal for my money too, a 1861 silver 3 cent... :) Will post pics for opinions on grade when I pick it up!

A "bag of IHCs" usually means well-circulated, 1900+ dates. Anything earlier, it's usually worth selling in smaller groups or individually.

IMHO, if your new to collecting and you have $250 to spend, if your partial to pennies, go buy 6 to 8 top shelf ones for that $250 and you'll appreciate the beauty of the die and the artists conception prior to 150 years of circulation.
