I have not made any large purchases of coins or silver recently but I have the opperotunity to buy nearly 600 worth of silver coins at spot. I have not seen the coins but there are 56 liberty halves 6 Washington quarters and a handful 40% kennedies. Do you think its a good deal?

It's really up to you. Spot minus 5% is what I would pay for the 90%. As for the 40%ers I would give 90% of their melt value at best, as they are rather hard to sell.

If the 40%ers are in MS condition, then go for it. I, myself, would not bother with more .400 fine coins for their bullion value. They are clad.

I'd agree with TBK and Lib. Take out the post '64's and I'd say it's a pretty decent deal.

Sounds as if the seller is bundling those 40 percenters to unload them. Other than them, this could be good... especially if you can press him to exclude the 40% silver coins from the deal. I have done that in the past by simply saying that I only collect 90% and higher silver content coins, bars, and rounds.

How do you guys take pictures? I am usually on here with my phone. The site doesn't accept those pictures and they don't have near the quality of some of your pictures.

I use an older Minolta 4-MP digital camera for my pix. It works well when I do it right. Lighting is critical. A nice bright light that emulates sunlight works best for me. Care in positioning the camera and the subject is needed in order to best show the subject and minimize reflections. This is especially important with bright shiny PMs.
Yeah, phone cameras are cheap and notorious for producing crummy low-res, blurry, grainy images. The good news is that it is possible to buy a decent digital camera these days for not much money. You can also find used digital cameras for sale from people who have upgraded to a newer / better digital camera.
Once you have your pic and want to upload it, create a message, locate the cursor in the message where you want the photo to be, and then click on the "upload image" icon below the message screen. Follow the on-screen cues and you will be posting pix before you know it.

I bet it's because your pictures are larger than the 100kb limit the site has.
PM me and send the pictures my way via email if you'd like. I'll modify them quick and post it on the thread for you. Else, PM me what OS your computer runs and i'll see if I can find a simple way for you to do it yourself.

Quote: I bet it's because your pictures are larger than the 100kb limit the site has. Yeah, that is something that I just do not get. When I upload pix, they are usually in the 60-80k size range, which is close to the max supposedly allowed. Yet, I see pix on here all the time that are 3-4 times larger than mine. What's up with that?
