I don't have enough experience with these mm. I would like to say its an rpm but I think in 87 they stopped punching them by hand then it would be a dd or it could be zinc rot I just don't know. I didn't find anything on coppercoins or lcr maybe an expert can help.

Yours is a busted gas bubble. 1989 was the last year for hand punching the MM.

Sure you did...zinc rot and gas bubbles are pretty much the same..when something rots, it creates gas...then a bubble...then it bursts..and you have zinc rot

Another cause of zinc rot is split plating. The plating develops a hole and the zinc starts to break down. Just not a pretty site when this happens and just gets worse with age.
