I'm sure most of you have found a cent or maybe two in
a roll of dimes before. The cheapo's count out 49 dimes and throw a one cent into the roll to make it look good.
Twice this week alone and four other times in the past two years or so I found a cent in a dime roll. When I looked at the roll at first I was like, what a cheap blah, blah blah.
But then on closer inspection, in with the rest of the dimes
was a silver. Ha, ha. See what you get when you cheat.
They thought they made nine cents. Pretty rare I think to have had this exact thing happen half a dozen times already.
I still laugh and shake my head every time I find both a cent and a silver in a roll.

Pretty funny. It reminds me of tellers saying there's no silver in their halves, then they give me several 40% coins...

To most rich people a cheap little silver dime is worthless. They could care less about it. They just had a laugh cheating the bank out of 9 cents.

Coin counting machines drop dimes into cent holes quite a bit at my credit union. I deliberately fed a roll of dimes (because the teller would not take them even though they were new String & Son tightly wrapped) and asked the teller to witness the process. After her eyes rolled back to the front of her head, she saw that out of four $5.00 rolls, which should have $20.00 wound up counting $19.46. Unless there were six clad (wrong metal) pennies, which is highly doubtful, their machine is taking a percentage of the dimes for profit.

Although I have not found a dime in a cent roll, or vice-versa.

Love it Indian1. Nothing better than seeing karma at work.

off-topic - Coin counting machines are evil. I took a bag of nickels (nothing but nickels) to a Coinstar a few weeks ago because I was too lazy to roll them and my bank with the counter was closed. I paid the price. The machine counted almost 20 pennies and 2 dimes. It may only be 62 cents but do you really need more than the 9+% you admit to taking? I used my banks counter on two other occasions with bags of nothing but nickels and neither time did they total to an amount ending in 0 or 5. With large volume counting I am sure they get close but I doubt they ever get it exactly right.

I've never found a cent in a dime roll, but it's pretty common for me to find a dime in a cent roll! I have no problem scoring 9 cents each time... :-)

That's funny Indian1!

A few weeks ago I got $90 of CWR dimes. Half of the rolls were stuffed with pennies with dimes only on the ends! Luckily the bank manager was cool and gave me my money back. She figured out who had brought them in and confronted the guy. He turned around and blamed his teenaged son.

"They could care less..." - in that case they must care some to be able to care less...

Sorry but that does my head in and this sums up why...

As for the rest of the thread... I agree and propose we form a lynch mob!
