A foreign planchet of a different shape would not change the shape of the die itself. It is a cool piece though.

As errorcoins222 pointed out the rim beads follow the edges which would not happen if it was a foreign planchet. If that was the case they would most likely be missing in the middle of the flat edge. I wouldn't be surprised if a vice was to blame, not a hammer. Its very well done.

A vice flattens the rim surface while a hammer gives a nice round shape as in 7 and 8:00). At any rate, enworb, we agree it is a nice piece and it is a post-strike job.
