I was not planning on delving into this particular area of the hobby but self-control did not get the better of me and I went ahead and purchased my first of several commemorative coins that I have my eye on...

I am grading this easy high AU, 55 or 58 and I want to even venture that one of the 3 TPGs might, MIGHT, see an entry level MS coin here...the eye appeal is just ridonk on this and the mottling is equally appealing to me personally...i love coins that have toned to this degree

now quick, someone hit me with reality

Very nice - can't wait to see how the other's grade it. I must warn you, commems have become an addiction for me!

Oh boy, AU anything at the least, I can see a low Mint State grade on this one. The luster is slightly muted because of the presence of the toning.

A great commemorative half to start with. Looks like a nice AU-58, I see a little rub on Gen. Grant's left leg and glove.

Congratulations on your first classic commemorative purchase ... hoping you study the series and join many of us in appreciation of the tremendous coins they represent.

Very nice Stone Mountain ... looking forward to whatever you select as your next coin.

You are correct, my bad. It's Jackson's leg that has the wear.
