I have seen these before, but I know so very little about them. Apparently, there was a large hoard of them discovered recently. How large? I can't say as I cannot seem to put my hand on the article, but I will keep looking. Your coin attributes as VA 857-1:
British Celtic Corieltauvi - Hostidius Unit, Ca 55-45 BC. Silver, 0.48 grs. Boar right / Horse left with pellet ring in front and below.
For those on here who are unfamiliar with the history behind these little gems:
Quote:
The Coritani / Corieltauvi were a collection of small tribes, centred on a swathe of territory through Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire to Lincolnshire and perhaps including lower S. Yorkshire. Coritani coinage in the first century was regularly struck by two rulers at once, and at one time by three, apparently colleagues.
I was unable to establish a value for your coin, as the only Corieltauvi coins I can find for sale are gold staters. I believe your coins value should be around $200-$300, as I believe your coin is in rather good condition.
I don't know if I've provided any information you didn't already know, but I appreciate you posting the coin here regardless. A great piece of British Celtic history.
