Part of my ancestral lineage came from the Swiss canton of Bern. I have little familiarity with its coinage. When I am in Philly next week I will be on the lookout for a nice Thaler from this region. Any advise or does anyone know a dealer that specializes in these coins?

Hi Amida,

Your post prompted me to flip through the Swiss Canton pages in the Krause catalogues. Though Bern has some beautiful coins, there does not appear to be too many Thalers (perhaps less than 10 varieties since 1600).

Good luck in Philly!

Cannot help you with finding a dealer, but this list http://www.muenzauktion.com/shops/s...itBtn=Finden may give you some ideas. Play with the language and currency settings. :) Also, I just did a quick and thus broad search, so there are some medals and recent coins in the list too ...
