A much better than average small cent collection for sale....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ICCS-HIGH-G...em3f1ab5b7b3

Personally I wold have thought it would be pretty hard to sell this as a single lot.... Most buyers would already have many of the coins. Maybe it is a way of advertising the group I guess.....

Item no longer for sale.

I wonder if someone bought it?

If they did, I think they got hosed.

Look at the seller's price list.

Both the seller's Trends list and ebay market value list is grossly overvalued.

For someone who decide all of a sudden to collect small cents and do not want to spend time doing it.Not a good investment at that price.

I have to agree, $11,000 sounds pretty high, I'm no expert but someone really into collecting those probably already has a bunch, and ill assume most newbee collectors like myself dont have 11 grand to spend on a collection. How much would the going price of a 1909-LMC wheat set go for? Minus the VDBs and a few other couple hundred dollar keys? Just wondering... Are Canadian pennies really worth that much, because I have tons in MS left by my grandpa from the 30's-60's (and newer) but I don't really collect them, well don't go to far out of my way to, if I find one I grab it, but my cash goes to other's. Should I be collecting those too? Lol

Cents from 1937 to date are generally not worth huge amounts unless they are certified MS65 or higher. 1937 to 1950 cents can be worth up to about $150 (1944) in MS64. Otherwise there are only a few key coins that have material value in less than MS65.

Wow, that's good to know, thanks. Ya my gramps left me a huge collection that was given to my this year. after my faster passed a few years ago my mother finally went through everything and found them all (not just Canadian at all, lol). I guess she was waiting to give them to me, (I turned 30 in june) actually she gave me my dads in june and hers and my gramps last night, and I only looked through the U.S coins so far (1880 morganEF, 22 Peace unc, 1906 Indian headAU...Etc.. I'm not done yet, I'll post pics when I am :)) and she was right to because in my earlier youth, lol, I probably would have sold them for some "toy.". As where now I never will, they'll be my daughters (she's 5 months) someday. But anyways sorry rambling... But ya, I have some Canadian pennies from pretty early on, actually I have a 1944 & there all in really good shape, if I had to guess off hand I'd say at least AU, a few definitely MS, as I said I quickly looked at the dates and packaged them up, I'll has to look them up. I also have hundreds of European coins from the 1850's-1950's and a few through now too.. And south/central America... Lol, my gramps traveled a lot, lucky man.
But anyways thanks for asking because now I have a lot more change to "really" go through.

Some of the coins shown, like the 1941, 1942 and 1943, would not make the "red" designation if you tried to cross those coins with PCGS.... I would never touch a collection like this, because with small cents, I prefer to buy the coins (i.e., eye appeal, original red lustre) and not necessarily the ICCS certificate.

I've been a strong supporter for ICCS graded coins, especially when it comes to comparing them with PCGS graded Canadian coins.

However, I do agree with SPP-Ott, that ICCS grading for copper, specifically regarding the 'Red' designation is far inferior to the PCGS grading standards.
