Little story behind this coin. I bought some groceries over the weekend, and asked the girl if she would give me my change in "change". Several people in line behind me, so I just put my change in my pocket. Finally got around to checking it today. I was surprised to find a half in it, and, not just any half, but a Franklin. Can't recall the last time I got a Kennedy in change, and a Franklin.....that just doesn't happen. Now, I've never had one before, but I believe this one is a 1955 "Bugs Bunny" Franklin. It appears to be in pretty good shape for having come out of a cash drawer. Quite a bit of the mint luster left, as well as decent details. It's got some kind of gunk in the hair, and I'm giving some thought to a good soak in acetone to see if it will come off the coin. This is one of those finds that gives you that "feel good" feeling, and I wanted to share it with y'all. Ralph Image: 1955 Bugs Bunny.jpg56.83 KB Image: 1955 Bugs Bunny Reverse.jpg57.46 KB

Jim, As I said, I didn't know if it was aone or not. Took a little closer scan of the face - there's something hangin' around down there below his nose Also included a pic from ebay of one that's being auctioned off as a 1955 Franklin "Bugs Bunny" - thought mine looked similar, but I've known to be wrong before. Still an interesting find in pocket change. Ralph Image: close-up of face.jpg7.85 KB Image: db6e_1.jpg15.95 KB

there is something unusual around the lips and chin, Maybe late die stage of the bugs or a filled die. Its hard to tell my friend I may be wrong also, I can regonise one (coin in hand) but with photos it is hard.

Looks like Bugs to me, nice change find For those of you not familiar with the "Bugs Bunny" variety 1955 Franklin half, the characteristic mark is from a die clash that was mostly polished off except for two marks at Franklins lip. Those two marks or "rabbit teeth", came from the feathers of the mini-eagle on the reverse during the clashing.

Thanks for verifying it for me y'all. I was thinking it was a Bugs Bunny Franklin, but wasn't sure. Having one is cool, but having one from circulation is even cooler! Pays to check that pocket change.

Cool find Ralph. I have a lincoln that has a huge booger right below his nose. I'd post pics but I can't get it to show.
