Are their prices always this good when things first come out or are they just having great deals this year?

Nice prices....it kinda makes it pointless to buy from the Mint and submit yourself. If you can buy a ER/FS 70 for around $30 over cost then..Duh!

Not worth the risk (and expense) of submitting on your own

I'm beginning to think everyone that says the mint gives dealers preferential treatment are right. How can they have gotten coins, gotten them graded and on the market already? I have a susbcription for the 2012-W, and I don't even have mine yet!!

Those are good prices if you like slabs.

If you've ever lived in dc you know the government gives preferential treatment to important clients or connections. I see no reason the mint is any different. TPGs I'm sure grade large orders faster but even then there's no way they'd have them already if their mint orders aren't delivered early. If you think about it with shipping and everything else those 70s are being sold for less than they'd cost for us to get 1 graded. TPGs and the mint have to be giving special pricing too

I find it strange that people think "special" pricing and service for a high volume customer is a bad thing. Do you really think that a collector who submits a few coins per year should really get the same service AND prices as a dealer who submit 10's of thousands of coins a year? Really?

Example: NGC is in Sarasota, Fl... Modern Coin Mart is in ....... Sarasota, Fl. I would think, over the years, they, most likely, have developed quantity pricing and a "drop off and call me when they are ready" kinda relationship.

Also: They also submit SOOOOOO many of each issue that, through years of experience, they can assume a certain percentage of 69's and 70's and will pre-price those issues before the even get them back..i.e. MCM and Silvertowne. They are not the "flippers" but they are the ones that initially develop the market. MCM selling those 70 SF sets for $229 is a perfect example. They could have waited until the flippers came in and then added $100 to each set (and got it)

Most retail places now have "Loyalty" programs with points and rewards..When I go to Mohegan Sun Casino in CT I never pay for a room or my meals. Is that also unfair to those of us who don't shop or play as much? Should EVERYONE get a free ride?

Sorry for the rant but I had planned to play golf today and it is one ugly weather day out there so here I am....

I actually have no problem with it. If it allows me to buy the graded ones sooner and cheaper then I benefit as well. I never really got why people seemed to think the mint was this higher moral authority that treated everyone the same no matter what the order either. At the end of the day its all just business.

Sorry about the golf game nothing worse than a great day ahead ruined by weather
